Thank you for continuing to find out more about St. Stephen’s of the Valley.  My hope and prayer is that God will be known here in the midst of our journey of faith.  Within our community here in the Antelope Valley, there are people from all walks of life.  Many different peoples of color, education levels, income, and family structures call this area home.  I believe that God does speak to all of us a word of life and hope as Jesus works with, through, and for us to better us and our community.

As we gather together for worship, fellowship, and service, St. Stephen’s can be a place to honor our differences that make us unique but also realize that we are all created in the image of God.  At times, we will be skipping and jumping because all is right with the world.  More often I have seen, that something happens in life to drain us of the life and energy we hope for or that society tells us we should have.  Jesus came to earth to bring us hope in the midst of despair and to celebrate with us all the joys of life.  We have a God who knows us better than we know ourselves.

In knowing us better than ourselves, Jesus invites us to things that may cause us to pause and wonder.  Hopefully at St. Stephen’s no one will be on their own, there will be support and guidance as we journey together so that all of us are enriched by the gifts God gives and Jesus becomes known to all.  We are created to be social beings and we find ourselves and come to know God in the midst of our relationships with others.

We are human and do make mistakes.  We say and do the wrong thing at the wrong time, because we are Lutheran Christians we are not exempt from sin and putting our foot in our mouths on occasion!  I hope that you would find St. Stephen’s to be a place that strives to find God through Christ in everything we do and is genuine about how we go about it.  Peace to you in your own
journey of faith.
